Brett Richards - Sage Member

Retired from guiding, Brett Richards is a past PFIGA President (2017 - 2021) and currently PFIGA’s NSW / ACT Representative. Brett also represents PFIGA on the NSW DPI Recreational Fishing Freshwater Trust Expenditure Committee (RFFTEC).

Brett has experience and a track record of successful operation in the NSW charter fishing industry through a collaborative arrangement with Bay and Basin Sports Fishing from 2015 to 2017, conducting sport fishing tours on the waterways of the NSW Shoalhaven region. Brett has fished around much of Australia for almost all our popular sport fishing species, with his international sport fishing experience including Peacock Bass in the Amazon, Bonefish and Large Mouth Bass in the United States, Brook Trout in Tierra del Fuego, Dogtooth Tuna in Vanuatu, and Black Bass in Papua New Guinea.

Brett had a long career with some of NSW’s highest profile fishing tackle retailers, and was a founding member of the Sydney Fly Rodders Club.

Brett’s fishing focus remains on the fishing opportunities close to his home in Canberra - fly fishing the Snowy Mountain lakes, casting lures for Murray Cod, and targeting Flathead and Tailor in the NSW south coast estuaries. Brett continues to participate in NSW Fisheries’ Tag and Release Research Program for Trophy Flathead, and other research programs related to Dusky Flathead.
